About Meenakshi
Meenakshi Natarajan was born on 23rd of July 1973 in the small town of Birlagram Nagda in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. After completing her school, she moved to Bhopal to graduate in Law. She then post graduated in Bio Chemistry from Holkar Science College, Indore
From early days in her school and colleges, she was well known to be an eloquent orator and a verbose debater. Along with this she was known to have a keen interest in social issues which soon drew her to take up leadership roles in college and student politics. She was appointed National Joint Secretary, NSUI in December 1997. After proving her strong leadership acumen, she was appointed NSUI National President in April 1999 by Shri. P.A. Sagma.
Meenakshi Natarajan unlike many popular notions about politicians comes from a modest, non political family. She is well known amongst party workers and others to maintain strong ethical and moral standards. A complete believer and follower of Gandhian philosophy, she has worked with Baba Amte, Anna Hazare and Sundherlal Bahuguna.
She was selected All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary in 2008 and is presently in charge of NSUI. She is also one of the members of the core team of AICC General Secretary Shri. Rahul Gandhi.
Meenakshi Natarajan after holding series of organizational portfolios contested Lok Sabha election from Mandsaur constituency in Madhya Pradesh in 2009. She contested against BJP candidate Dr. Laxmi Narayan Pandey, a winning candidate since 1971. She won the election by 30,000 votes to become one of the young Member of Parliament of the 15th Lok Sabha.
